I’m delighted to share with you all today that coming up on December 1st, I’ll be participating in a Worldwide Day of Service that will kick off a month long effort to serve and live as Christ lived. This is on behalf of the #LIGHTtheWORLD campaign to bring about goodness during the holiday season.  It’s really just an opportunity to serve anyone you want, anywhere you want. 25 ways over 25 days. This is my family, I aim to serve them every day, and I do that by making them dinner, driving them around town, and simply giving them a listening ear. I try to get them to talk with my daily question asking, hoping to get a peek into their hearts and minds. Service doesn’t always have to be a grand gesture, our daily acts of love are service.

With this month of service, I’m hoping to dig a little deeper, to do a little more for not just my family, but my community. I’m going to sit down with my family in the next few days, and see what THEY want to do on December 1st, the worldwide day of service. We could visit a nursing home, drop off a mysterious plate of cookies to someone who needs a pick-me-up, or even do some lawn work for a friend. Service makes the heart happy.

I’ve always found that when I am down, thinking of someone to serve is a surefire way to help me feel better. Forgetting myself, and looking outward to others.

Here is an example of what to do on December 6th. The prompt for that day is:

“Jesus read the scriptures and so can you.” You can share your favorite scripture on social media, make a commitment to read your scriptures more, or be prayerful about who you can reach out to, to share a scripture.

Over the past few years, I’ve encouraged my family to memorize a scripture a month, and even shared free printables on my site to help others to do the same. To see all of the free prints I’ve shared CLICK HERE.

Let your light so shine

So I’m sharing this scripture today on social media as an early share to let others know about this service month.
