The BEST Oatmeal Cookies Ever- The Red Headed Hostess

You may recall me using these cookies to bribe my husband.

And I think he was fine with that.

These cookies are for you if:

1-  You prefer chewy cookies over crunchy cookies

2-  You are human

So -lets show you how to make them:

Into your mixer – add:

1 cup softened butter

1 cup white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

and mix.  well.

Then add 2 eggs.  And mix.

1 teaspoon vanilla.  And mix.

Then whisk your dry ingredients separately.

2 cups flour

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt

1 -2 tsp groundcinnamon

And add to your mixer.  And mix.

Then put in your 3 cups of oats.  And mix.  Now get ready for the good stuff.

This is what makes these cookies extra special.  And will get the response I did from one of the neighbor kids:  “These cookies aren’t good.  They’re grrrreat!”

1/2 cup of cranberries

1/2 cup butterscotch morsels

1/2 bag of good yummy chocolate chips

1/2 cup of toffee bits

And mix.  This is a hefty dough.  If you want to work out your entire arm, shoulder and back – then don’t use your mixer.

Shape your dough into DISCS not balls!  These don’t flatten in your oven.  You need to take control of the situation and flatten them yourself.

Put in a baggie

And freeze.

Go here – to see why I do such crazy things.

After they are sufficiently frozen, preheat your oven to 375

And bake for 10 minutes.  Watch them.  Overbaked cookies are such a sad thing in this world.  Don’t let them brown.  Do not let them brown.  Browning….no.

Let them set on the baking sheet.  And just look at them for awhile.

mmmmmmmm.  I know you want some.

  1. So is this recipe in a format where it can be printed without all the photos in between the directions? Or is it somewhere on the website where it can be printed? It looks scrumptious, thanks for sharing it!

  2. How big should the balls be, should you use a 1/4 c amount? (I have a recipe that uses that much) Please advise. Thanks.
