Taking Our Questions to Conference | The Red Headed Hostess

One thing that I love about conference is the unity I feel with the Saints around the world.

  1. Thank you! This was just what I needed to hear this morning. I’m hoping this Conference goes better than the last one. We have 2 little ones (18 months and 3.5 yrs) and they make it a bit difficult to concentrate. But I will try to be as prepared as I can.
I also wanted to thank you for your time & effort you have put into this site. You are truly an inspiration and I hope to one day have a scripture journal like yours!

  2. I have had similar experiences with conference. In fact one general conference was instrumental to the repair of my mother and I’s relationship. Something I know we were both praying and fasting for. Now when I go back and look at the talks I’m surprised at how much they helped us.

And that’s why I’ve been brave this year and invited my husband’s inactive brothers and their girlfriends to conference. Because I know it’s not the words, it’s the spirit that will be in our home during conference.

  3. Thank you for this. I have a couple of adult daughters who are not speaking to me, nor participating in the family to any great extent. They hold me in great disdain, and it shows clearly in their attitudes and comments. I am at my wits’ end to know how to mend these relationships. I’ve done everything I can think of with prayer and I can’t see that anything is happening. I know I need to learn patience and wait upon the Lord, and I know that I can’t force things–that’s not the Lord’s way and it doesn’t work. This is the question that will be in my heart this General Conference. You spoke and the Lord let me hear.

  4. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this post! I am anxious to bask in the spiritual light that general conference messages shine on me.

Also, thank you so much for your blog. It has motivated me to begin a scripture journal that has become precious and dear to me. I have given blank journals and journal supplies to my two counselors in the relief society of our ward–hoping that they will have spiritual experiences as I do each time I write in it.

  5. This will be my first General Conference as a member of the church and I’m excited. I’ve printed out your note sheets so I’ll be all ready to go. Unfortunately my husband isn’t a member and doesn’t want anything to do with the church, so I won’t be able to watch the conference live. I have my DVR set up to record the sessions as they’re broadcast on BYU-TV, and I’ll watch them at night after my husband has gone to bed. Thank Heavenly Father for the joys of modern technology that allow me to do that!

  6. This is perfect to add to a a seminary lesson. We’ve been talking about isaac and Rebekah getting married and now we’re talking about Jacob, the ladder, and covenants. I love your site and the inspiration that you are to me and others! Thank you!

  7. Thank you for this inspired preface to Conference. It is a great reminder that we need to prepare to really hear our Father’s message to us.

  8. I loved Sis. Nelson’s story!! I love Conference! I so want to be able to pass on my love of it to my children…I shared this with my son hoping that he would be able to feel the spirit in the message given. Thank you for sharing this with us!

  9. Thank you for all you do, your efforts to live the gospel and share it with others. I am looking forward and preparing for conference. I get to attend one session for the first time in my life and am very excited to be there in person though I know that the spirit will teach us no matter where we listen from. I appreciate your sharing your talents and ideas too.

We all have questions, as we prayerfully ask and we will be given answers. What a loving Heavenly Father we all have.

  10. Thank you for this post! What a beautiful reminder of how and what to listen for during General Conference.

Today, as I listen prayerfully, answers to questions and concerns that I have, will come through the Holy Spirit and if I then “go and do” as instructed, blessings will come.

How grateful I am for a Heavenly Father that loves us so much.

  11. Thanks for this posting. I just read it the day after conference. I noticed that my daughter who is considering serving a mission, mentioned that all of the talks were about missionary work. :o) Stay tuned.

  12. I am giving a talk on sunday and I love this story and this clip but I am having a hard time finding the talk given by elder Holland that it was taken from. Do you have the link or the talks name where I can find some text? Thank you
