“Have Around” Recipes

Just a few recommendations on recipes that you can make ahead and then just have around this conference weekend so you can enjoy conference yourself!

Some are mine… some are not.  But all are tried and true and will have your family’s tummies very happy.

Chicken Salad Sandwiches

The perfect thing to keep in the fridge with a bag of rolls nearby.  So Yummy.

Chocolate Coma Brownies

If you like chocolate…. and your family doesn’t.  DO NOT MAKE THESE.

That was just a warning that I didn’t really mean.  Well, kind of.  Because I’m not sure if you will love me or hate me after your chocolate overdose.

Easy Roast Beef Man Sandwich

I made this again the other day and my husband jumped and clapped and cried like a little girl.

Just kidding Dear.

But he DID come in… smelled it…walked straight to the stove… saw it… and looked up with this look of “Please…????” and asked “Can I have one right now?”

And I said yes.  And then started talking about how I really want to go to Hawaii again.

Its good to have a few tricks up our sleeves.

By the way… this mixture refrigerates really well.  And if you want to go the extra mile… make this one for the guys and the chicken salad for the ladies.  And no one will leave your house this weekend.

The. Best. Ever.

And my mother has ALWAYS made good cinnamon rolls.

But she has officially changed recipes.

I mean we talked about these after.

For like a week.

They are The Pioneer Womans.

And she can cook.

  1. This is just in time!! I’m starting my General Conference baking tomorrow and I’ll be sure to try some of these out with the family. Thank You 🙂

  2. You never cease to amaze me!!! 🙂 Thank you for all of your ideas this past week for General Conference. I used some of the activities in seminary this morning and they were a hit! You have no idea how much you’ve helped me….AND I can’t wait to try more of your recipes…..the ones I’ve tried have become family favorites now! You’re the best…THANK YOU!

  3. Your chocolate chip cookies have become our “go to” cookie. They are the best! Thanks for a new family favorite.

  4. Thank you so much for these recipes. I am having a hard time deciding which ones to try, they all look so yummy! Another favorite thing we like to make for conference is our Conference Trailmix. Basically we just mix a bunch of things we like together like..popcorn, fishy crackers, swedish fish, marshmallows, m&m’s, nuts, etc. and then munch on it while watching conference.

  5. I think I officially hate you. Just LOOKING at the chocolate fudge brownies made me gain 10 lbs. And I don’t need the extra lbs. Still, I’ve added you to my favorites bar and have every intention of not letting my husband ever leave the house again because the cooking is so good. Reading this blog was like watching the FOOD channel after stuffing myself on something divine, and yet finding myself drooling all over myself just at the pictures. Truly in real life, I think we could get along fabulously. Especially if the brownies ever make themselves.

  6. I made the cinnamon rolls and YES, they are so yummy. And easy, too. I did use alot less butter and sugar than her recipe (but which was more than what I normaly use) and they still were incredibly buttery and sweet. Oh my.

  7. My husband and I have two little boys (5 and 2 1/2) so listening to conference is not as spiritually feasting as I would like it to be. I plan to really prepare for this session by focusing our FHE’s on conference for the next month. In my search, your site came up and I am LOVING the recipes! I haven’t tried any of them yet, but MY GOODNESS THEY LOOK AMAZING! I am planning on sharing these recipes with my VT sisters and my friends and family. Thanks so much for the site! The pictures are great, too!

  8. Thank you Shannon – You were reading my mind. This morning I just finished making mini banana-bran muffins (chocolate chips are a must in them according to the kids!) and a big batch of Chili Con Carni so we can just have some on the stove-top simmering for grab & go purposes!

  9. I made the roast beef sandwiches and they were GREAT! I can’t wait to make them again, everyone loved them. I also made the cinnamon rolls – oh my, they were so good. Thanks for the great food ideas.

One of our traditions is to have chocolate in the room where we watch conference for anyone who is watching to enjoy. Our children LOVE this and remember it from last conference. Not bad for children who are 4 and 5. They were so excited for conference because we make a big deal out of it and we love it, so they do too.

Thanks for all you do, love your site!

  10. You may have answered this in the past, but, when you make the cinnamon rolls do you omit the coffee from the maple frosting?
