Fireworks 2011- The Red Headed Hostess

Last year we learned that photography and fireworks go hand in hand…

So all the kids were expecting a repeat … and we did not want to disappoint!

It really adds a whole new angle at an already fun activity… especially sparklers…

Who knew that you could get so creative and inventive?

The trick is it being dark enough outside so that the lens stays open longer.

And you HAVE to turn OFF your flash.

You are letting the camera use the light from the sparklers to determine the shutter speed

“Shannon here… look Shannon!!…” as they try to create shapes and explosions of light.

I especially like my nephew’s creation there to the right.  It looks like something you would see at the MoMA

Two people sitting?

The woman on the left, and the man on the right?

Do you see it?

This, by the way, is my husband.

I call it “The Cheerleader”

After we finished the sparklers off, my husband pulled out these other sparkler thing-ys.  Of which my “get whatever you want” instructions as he left for the fireworks tent, allowed him to become a kid again…  especially the kid part that likes to light things on fire and blow things up.

And he chose good.

I felt like I was shooting scenes from “Harry Potter”

And I think they did too.

“Expecto Patronum!”

I think we could have gone through far more boxes of sparklers than we had on hand…

But we still had these to do…

I hope you all had a wonderful Fourth of July!!!!

We definitely did!
