Understanding Personal Revelation Study Flip Book

When I was teaching seminary, one of the most common questions from students was about personal revelation.  It was definitely a topic many of my students wanted more information about, and didn’t feel very confident in.

True to the Faith is an excellent resource and lists some really clear principles about how to prepare yourself, and how to  receive personal revelation. I suggest that everyone shed read that!

This Come Follow Me lesson also has some excellent resources.  One talk that isn’t listed in that lesson, that I always use when teaching about the Spirit and receiving revelation is this one:  The Candle of the Lord, by President Boyd K. Packer.  That is a classic talk with some real gems in it.

We just finished a really valuable study Flip Book on this topic called Understanding Personal Revelation.  You can see it here:

This book is designed to go with the doctrines and principles taught in True to the Faith – and rather than just reading through the definition, you are creating an entire book about each important teaching.

It is a really interactive book, and helps you search and discover new things.

There are also a lot of good visuals to help make it a fun and meaningful study.

After you study the doctrines and principles in True to the Faith, there are also several scriptures that you can study and record what they teach you about receiving personal revelation.  It is nice to have all of these great scriptures in one place.

There are also quote cards.  As you search through General Conference talks about personal revelation, you can record some of your favorite quotes on these pages.

This Flip Book is 28 pages and prints onto 7 full sheets of paper.  Then you just cut them, punch a hole, and then connect with a string or single book ring.

*  In a group setting, I would just put up a table and invite them to fill in their books using True to the Faith.  And then I would put several General Conference talks out so they could search through them looking for good quotes about receiving revelation.  I would instruct them to mark the quotes they find so that others could see it as well – then they will be naturally sharing and teaching each other.
