Here are some Scripture Mastery flash cards
that I just made for my students. I think this is the hardest year to memorize the references because they all start with “D&C”, so you just have to remember the numbers…
So – I came up with the following solutions:
1- I made flash cards with references, key phrases, and pictures
The pictures help teach the doctrine and principle and it provides visuals for my visual learners
2- I made clues that involve the reference
The clues are little sayings that connect the reference with the doctrine and principle
Example: above you can see “The Song of the righteous is a prayer unto the Lord”. The reference is: D&C 25:12. So the clue is: Put 25 cents in the juke box and you will get 12 righteous songs.
D&C 10:5 is “Pray always”. So, hold your hands out and show all 10 fingers. Now bring those 2 hands together and make your ten fingers into 5 like you are praying.
There are 25 flash cards and they are easy to make
Just print them off and cut out each section
One section is 2 boxes. One box has the reference and the box next to it has the picture and key phrase.
Then fold over and glue the insides together
I laminated mine to keep them in good shape…
So we could play games like this:
Lay out the cards on the table and call out certain references and see which person can grab the right one first.
After that round, turn them over and call out the key phrase.
If you have small children
Make 2 sets of cards, lay out a set and have them match them.
