Come Follow Me: Alma 53-63

In Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Alma 53-63, it covers the second part of the war chapters.  Just like in the first half, these chapters are loaded with things that can be directly applicable to this exact time in our lives.  The parallels found in the Book of Mormon, and specifically many things in the war chapters, can easily be applied to what is happening in our world right now at this moment in time.  After reading these chapters and then watching the news, it is so easy to see that the Book of Mormon truly does give us eyes to see, and really is a book written for our day.

Each of us has a responsibility to put a valiant effort into studying and learning the important doctrines and principles found in the Book of Mormon so that we each can have eyes to see and decipher all the chaos happening in the world today, and to help our children do the same.

We here at The Red Headed Hostess provide you with valuable, effective, and professional tools to help you with your in-depth study of the scriptures and also tools you can use to teach your children the scriptures.  The helps we provide in our weekly kits coincide with the Come, Follow Me schedule from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  The kit shown in this article coincides with the Come, Follow Me Book of Mormon Alma 53-63.  Our kits are meant to be used with the Come, Follow Me for Individuals and Families manual in the home.  Because of the many options we provide in each kit, they are also very popular among Gospel Doctrine teachers, Seminary teachers, Sunday School teachers, and Primary teachers.

Each kit literally has something for all ages from adults to young children.  Everything is created by current full-time and retired seminary and institute teachers who have had years of professional training on how to teach the Gospel.  Each kit will have something you can use for yourself and also multiple things you can pick from to teach your family or class.  We try to give our customers as much value as we possibly can, and you can see that reflected in our weekly kits.  Each kit has an average of 150 hours put into creating it from the in-depth commentary written for the Study Pages, proofing, research, and all the illustrations that can be used for children created by our professional illustrator.  Keep reading to see what is included in one of our kits.

STUDY PAGES

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO DO COME FOLLOW ME?

The Study Pages in each kit are the foundation of every kit we make and are one of the most popular items we offer.  These are for adults and are meant to make parents experts in the chapters being covered in the kit.  That way, they can turn around and teach their family with confidence and effectiveness.

Nothing can replace getting into the scriptures directly and studying in-depth.  These Study Pages will help you make the most of that time and effort.  Each page has the actual scripture text in the left column with suggested things to mark in your actual scriptures.  The right column on each page contains relevant commentary to help you apply the scripture to today, great quotes, tips, and great discussion questions to help you facilitate a great family discussion.  We do not create any other activities or tools in the kit until these pages are complete.  That way, the tools and activities you decide to use will coincide perfectly with what you have been studying yourself in your personal scripture study.  Out of all the many options in each of our weekly kits, the Study Pages what we recommend you use every week.

COME FOLLOW ME ACTIVITY PAGES

After you have studied using our Study Pages, you now have the Activity Pages which are loaded with lots of great tools that will help you teach your family.  There are a lot of options to choose from in the Activity Pages.  The intent isn’t to use every single item we provide in the Activity Pages, that would usually be too much to get through in a week’s time.  Instead, pick and choose the things that you think will work best for your family based on your family’s needs and age groups.

Once you decide what you think will be best to use that week, print only those items.  Printing specific things instead of printing the entire kit will save you on ink and paper.  There are also many things that work well when used on a tablet, such as the Study Pages and Bedtime Stories.  Our Activity Pages have things that can be used quickly for the times you don’t have time to prepare much for a lesson and also things to use for the times that you have more time to put into preparation.  See some of the items below found in our Activity Pages.

Some of our most popular items in the Activity Pages file are our illustrated stories, also known as Bedtime Stories.  These are popular because of how versatile they can be.  These are illustrations of the stories covered in the chapters with very simple and easy-to-understand captions of the story that children can easily understand.

There are great discussion questions geared toward both younger and older children.  These are versatile because they can be used as part of your dedicated in-depth study, or they are great to use when you are short on time or need a quick 5-minute lesson such as at bedtime, during breakfast, or however you want to work them into your routine.  Just print them at the start of the week and keep them handy so you can easily work them into your schedule.  These also work well on a tablet.

The goal of our products is to get you and your family into the scriptures.  One very popular thing we have for kids that helps with this in each weekly kit is our Scripture Marking Guide for kids.  These marking guides get your kids directly into their scriptures and walks them through step-by-step in finding important doctrines, principles, and developing study skills that they will use their entire lives.

These guides are usually only one or two pages.  Just print them and give them to your child to work through.  Older children usually will not need any help.  Younger children still learning to read may need help from parents or a sibling but can still benefit from getting into their scriptures at a young age.  Depending on the age of your child, this can be a print-and-go activity.
