One of the most powerful ways you can teach your children is to pause and testify of truth.

This week we will study the story of Simeon who saw the baby Jesus at the temple and knew He was the Messiah. Elder Renlund shared a story of how his father used the story of Simeon to make this promise:

“And you can know it too.”

Elder Renlund’s father used this moment to pause and make a promise to his children. This was not just a story about Simeon receiving a witness of Christ, it was also a story about how his children could receive that same witness.

As you teach your children each week, here are some things you can do to teach with power:

1. Look for opportunities to testify of things you know to be true.

2. Make promises to them and teach them how to look for the fulfillment of those promises.

3. Help them grab hold of the stories and know that the people and stories teach them about things they can also have.

4. Help them see that the stories are showing them blessings that God bestows upon His children.

Next week we get to witness the birth and childhood of the Savior through the eyes of some of those privileged to be there.

As we read their stories, their testimonies can strengthen ours and the Spirit can confirm to us that what they saw and felt truly happened, so that we too can become witnesses of Christ.

Some things I think you will really love next week:

- There LOTS of tools to help your children set goals. These activities go perfectly with the children and youth program and will help your family be excited to make plans to develop just like Jesus did.

- Try this fun paper bag activity to get everyone excited to think about goals and development. There is a lesson. videos, and activities to go with it too. Use whatever tools you think your children will respond best to.

- There are so few pictures of Christ as a child or teen which is why the art this week is really special. Use it to help your family imagine the things Jesus was doing when He was their age.
