Moms, can you relate to Heidi’s artwork this week? Does that pile of laundry feel like holy work?

“Looking back at the time when I had four kids under four years old, my days were filled with laundry, diaper changes, feeding the baby and the family, cleaning, entertaining children, teaching, wiping faces, potty training, baths, comforting toddlers, and MORE laundry.

“I went to bed exhausted, yet I remember often feeling frustrated that I wasn’t able to serve others because I was so busy with my own life.

“If only I comprehended on those long, hard days that my life was FILLED to capacity with noble service! I was serving the ‘fellow-men’ I brought into this world - the spirits that Heavenly Father gave me stewardship over.

“Oh, how my experience would have been different if I consciously reminded myself daily that not only did the routine, monotonous, and often taken-for-granted duties of making a home “count” as service, they truly are some of the most noble and holy “service of our God.”

Have you ever felt like you weren’t serving enough because you were so busy keeping on top of things in your own home?

Maybe you could put this art somewhere you’ll see it daily, to remind yourself that you are participating in some of the most consecrated and selfless service that there is.

These words from Elder Soares hit me like a lightning bolt in General Conference. I have been reflecting on them ever since.

“We also know from the temple that if we want the Spirit of the Lord to be unrestrained in our lives, we simply cannot and must not have unkind feelings toward anyone. Giving place in our hearts or minds for unkind feelings or thoughts will produce unkind words and actions, whether on social media or in our homes, causing the Spirit of the Lord to withdraw from our hearts.”

Do you ever get confused at this point in the Book of Mormon?

It starts off simple with Nephi and Jacob in the land of Nephi, and before we know it, we’re in Zarahemla with the Mulekites and King Mosiah. 🧐

Here’s a little update that you can save to share when you teach your family!

PS Wouldn’t you love to know more about the journey that King Mosiah led his people on? We only get a brief summary but think of the faith it took to leave their homes in the land of Nephi, not knowing where they would be led.

And think of the answered prayers in the land of Zarahemla when the Nephites arrived with scripture and a record of their language.

God is so good and mindful of all of His people!
