Fun Spring Cupcakes! The Red Headed Hostess

How fun are these cupcakes!

Wouldn’t they be so great for….

  • Your Easter party
  • A birthday party
  • A day at Grandma’s house

Just have the cupcakes baked and cooled and set out bowls of candy and frosting that can be used in a variety of ways.

Above you can see:

  • M&Ms
  • Taffy
  • Egg shaped jelly beans
  • Egg shaped citrus jellies

Other fun options would be:

  • Colored sunflower seeds
  • Laffy Taffy
  • Starbursts
  • Sprinkles

Then you just have fun creating!

Here you can see the taffy made into little rosettes.

You just treat the taffy like clay.  Pull and stretch and then roll until you get your desired result.

You can also see a flower made out of jelly beans and one M&M.

The yellow one has little frosting polka dots.  And you can see flowers to the left that are made from citrus jellies.  And I am in love with the ones that look like pin cushions.

You can just create and create until you are out of cupcakes.

And then somehow, bring yourselves to eat them.

  1. ADORABLE!!!! Thank you for such cute ideas! What kind of frosting do you use……it looks so smooth?

    I am always amazed!! 🙂

  2. I also want to have your recipe for such smooth, shiny frosting. Can you post it?
    Thanks!

PS LOVE your site. I am a four year seminary teacher and just found you – have used several of your ideas.

    1. When it comes to frosting… I kind of make it up.
However… the basics are this: 1 bag of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1 to 2 tsp vanilla and then I add milk until it reaches a thick “icing” consistency. Probably about 3/4 cup (but start with less).
If I were frosting a cake, I would add less milk. I want it to be just a little less stiff so it doesn’t hold any peaks – and just melts into itself.
      I hope that helps! 🙂

  3. Super cute! Looks like fun for YW (my MiaMaids will love this) or little ones. I can see these for a fun BD party that’s coming up. Thanks.
I love you blog, have been reading for a bit and used a couple of your ideas. All great – all successful. My husband I have used a few ideas for our FHE as well. Thanks so much!!!
