Core Beliefs and Continuing Revelation

As part of his written history of the Church, Joseph Smith recorded thirteen core beliefs, now known as the Articles of Faith. These statements continue to help members understand and explain the foundational doctrines of the gospel.

This week also includes two major moments in modern Church history. In 1890, President Wilford Woodruff issued Official Declaration 1, ending the practice of plural marriage. Later, in 1978, Official Declaration 2, received through President Spencer W. Kimball, announced that all worthy male members could receive the priesthood and its blessings—bringing greater access to the power of God to all of His children.

These inspired documents show how the Lord continues to guide His Church through revelation and how His work continues to unfold in every generation.
