To My Five Month Old Hannah Joy- The Red Headed Hostess

Oh my sweet Hannah.

You are such a dear baby.  You have this healing spirit where you just make everyone feel better.  People will tell me that they need some “Hannah time” and you just know how to work your magic.

You are so curious about everything.  You’re constantly watching and thinking and figuring things out.  You have helped me see the world all over again.

I snapped this picture of you because you looked so cute looking over your shoulder….

You kept looking at that toy like you were trying to decide if you wanted to go to all the work of turning your seat around to play with it.

You make us laugh all of the time.

Your latest trick is you have learned how to blow and make your lips vibrate together.

You will sit and do this in your car seat and I am sure people in other cars are wondering what I am laughing at.

Another trick is that you have discovered that your little hands can grab anything and everything around you.

Cameras, cell phones, remote controls, my hair, my jewelry that I no longer wear.

Your daddy thinks its really fun to quickly walk away when I have passed you to him and you have a good grip of my hair.

So when I went to get my hair done I told my hair dresser, “I need a haircut that looks cute in a ponytail.”

Speaking of your daddy…

This is what you did when he walked up to you.

Your whole body squeals with delight when he comes home from work.

You are a great prize to come home to after a long, hard day.

I absolutely love that you have red hair.  That is the first thing your daddy said to me when he brought you to me when you were born.

“She has red hair” he said, and I was so thrilled that we shared something like that.

You have your daddy’s eyes.  Everyone notices that about you.

And you have the most perfect, little, often milky mouth.

Notice your hand on the camera.  This was really fun for you to have something like a camera so close to your face.

That perfect little face.

Thank You, Hannah for being our daughter.  I am a better person because of you.

  1. My most favorite photo above is the “daddy’s eyes” one… it just made me chuckle and grin so big! Hannah is precious, and I am so glad that she has YOU for her mommy.

  2. Such a sweet post and journal entry for your family. So I’ve been dying to know – and can’t find the answer anywhere. HOW DO YOU GET YOUR SCRIPTURE STUDY TIME IN WITH A BABY IN TOW??? I’ve been struggling with it for years and I just can not figure out a routine. I was hoping you’d have some wonderful tips for me! Thanks so much!

  3. I wish I would have had you and your beautiful insights around when I was having my children. I felt like I was so alone in my desire to be a stay-at-home mom and be there for my children. I love every minute and now that some of them are all grown up and out of the house I am especially grateful that I was with them so much. I wouldn’t trade my life for anything, I just wish that I would have known other moms whose desires were like mine. I love this post! Your daughter is beautiful and such a lucky little girl to have a mom and dad that love her and appreciate every moment they have together.

  4. what a special tribute to little Hannah from her Mommy. she is sooo adorable.
Not that her Great Grandma is prejudice or anything !
