Here is a story about a sign that President Spencer W. Kimball had on his desk.⁠⁠

These were common in the 1800s because the lantern would allow individuals to carry a candle without the flame being blown out. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Some families would make their own lanterns and punch their designs into it, so you may have been able to identify a family in the dark just by the pattern on their lantern!⁠⁠
⁠⁠
If you have ever been to the Newel K. Whitney store in Kirtland, Ohio - you would have seen these lanterns hanging in the store. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
This week your children can make their own lanterns out of soup cans! Just follow the instructions in the kit this week. There is also a video they could watch to learn how these were made. ⁠⁠

Because the saints were obedient and gathered to Ohio, the Lord gave them more. That is what we will see in these sections. He is giving them more - especially in D&C 42.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
And then after that He continued to give them more. Revelation upon revelation, He gave them more.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
And He will keep giving us more. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
It reminds me of when President Eyring said this when they announced the emphasis on gospel learning in the home. He said:⁠⁠
⁠⁠
"The Lord is pouring out knowledge on His Church as He promised that He would" (October 2018 General Conference).⁠⁠
⁠⁠
That is such an amazing promise. It happened with the saints in 1831, and it is happening now. ⁠⁠
⁠⁠
I have watched President Nelson give us challenge after challenge. Each one with a promise that will give us more faith, more strength, more knowledge, and more wisdom.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
As you study these sections this week, consider what the saints received because they obeyed the Lord's command to gather to Ohio. George Q. Cannon called it "a flood of light." ⁠⁠
