Every day or two, our family adds one simple thing we’re grateful for, or a moment we’ve felt the Spirit to our Family Gratitude Garland.

It’s nothing fancy. Just paper and willing hearts.
But somehow, these little pages remind us that God has been here all along.

So many people ask, “Where do I even start?” when it comes to studying the scriptures in their home. With a new year and a new book of scripture to study, I want to introduce a simple but powerful concept that can help: holy rhythms.
When your home feels a little off—that’s your cue to begin again.

Here’s what it can look like in real life:

1️⃣ Choose a time. Many families find Sunday after church works best.

2️⃣ Find a cozy spot. Maybe the corner of your family room or your child’s favorite chair.

3️⃣ Set out your scriptures and guidebooks. Each one has a short section for that week’s Come, Follow Me reading.

4️⃣ Set the mood. Light a candle, add favorite snacks, play inspiring music—whatever helps your family feel peace.

It doesn’t have to be perfect—just intentional.

Those small, holy habits will fill your home with peace and help your family fall in love with the scriptures again.

Start where you are. The Spirit will meet you there. 🌿

The Old Testament isn’t ancient history—it’s our story. It’s the story of covenant families learning to let God prevail. 🌿

As we begin studying the Old Testament in 2026, we’ll see more clearly who we are, why we gather Israel, and how Christ has been at the center from the very beginning.

Your children will start to see themselves in these stories, not just as readers of scripture, but as participants in God’s work. They’ll understand what it means to be “children of the covenant.” And they’ll know their purpose.

Over these next couple months, I want to show you how we can fill our homes with holy rhythms that prepare our hearts to love the Old Testament.

To slow down.

To see Christ in every story.

To remember to seek (“zakar in Hebrew ”) so deeply that it changes us.✨
