Before Moses is called at the burning bush, there’s a story behind how he got there. The Israelites’ growth in number had Pharaoh worried, so he ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed.

Moses’ life was spared, and he was raised in Pharaoh’s household.

As an adult, he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave and stepped in to defend him. After that, he had to leave Egypt for his safety.

He ends up in Midian,
far from Egypt and far from the life he once knew.

That’s where God meets him.

And when God calls him to go back,
Moses responds the way many of us would:

Who am I?
What do I say?
What if they don’t believe me?

They’re fair questions.

But God doesn’t start with answers.

He starts with who He is.

“I AM THAT I AM.”

This is Jehovah,
the God of Israel.

Before God changes Moses’ situation,
He teaches him who he can trust.

The God who sees.
The God who hears.
The God who delivers.

Moses’ story doesn’t stop at the river. Phara

Moses’ story doesn’t stop at the river.

Pharaoh’s daughter found the basket and chose to raise him as her own.

His sister, Miriam, stepped forward and offered to find someone to care for the baby, bringing back Jochebed, Moses’ mother.

Jochebed was paid to nurse and raise her very own son.

God had a plan for Moses…but perhaps the most beautiful part is that Moses’ mother trusted God even when she couldn’t control the outcome.

Can you imagine a trust like that? 🤍
