Doctrine and Covenants 46 is a treasure chest waiting to help your family recognize and develop their spiritual gifts! ✨

After teaching seminary for 13 years, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply teens resonate with learning about spiritual gifts - they want to know more about this.

Try this with your family:

1. Sit down together and explore Section 46. Talk about examples of spiritual gifts listed there.

2. Ask questions like:

• “What spiritual gifts do you think President Nelson or Joseph Smith have?”

• “What spiritual gifts do you see in each family member?”

• “Which spiritual gifts would you love to develop?”

• “What gifts does your patriarchal blessing highlight?”

Here’s a bonus: Elder Bednar shared 8 amazing principles about spiritual gifts in April’s For the Strength of Youth magazine (“What Are Spiritual Gifts, and How Do They Work?”).

Take those principles, divide them up, and have each family member share insights throughout the week!

We all have unique spiritual gifts given to us by

We all have unique spiritual gifts given to us by God.

In the Doctrine & Covenants, we learn that “to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God.” This means that each of us has something special and valuable to offer.

Some might have the gift of teaching, others might have the gift of service, and still others might have the gift of kindness or healing.

The reason we are given these gifts is so that we can bless the lives of others.

The scripture teaches that “all may be profited thereby” (Doctrine & Covenants 46:12), meaning our gifts are meant to help others grow, find joy, and feel God’s love.

We may not always see how our gifts make a difference, but when we use them to serve others, we follow Jesus Christ’s example and contribute to His work.

It’s important to recognize and appreciate the gifts we have, no matter how big or small.

We can all make a difference in the lives of others when we share the gifts God has given us.

Let’s remember that our talents are meant to bless those around us, and as we do, we’ll see how God’s love is spread through us.
