Easy, Yummy, Tender Teryaki Chicken- The Red Headed Hostess

My husband and I LOVE this amazing teriyaki chicken marinade.
It is SO easy and it makes the most tender chicken.

My husbands words were:  “usually you are sawing through chicken – but this is so tender!”   The fact that he actually ate the chicken – while in the presence of steak – is proof enough!

Here is the simple marinade:
1 can of coke
1 cup soy sauce
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup oil
1 tsp minced garlic
That was enough for 7 chicken breasts.  Marinate for 8 hours.
Then grill.
yum. Delicious. Mouth watering.

  1. This looks incredibly good and easy. I have a question: Would a diet coke work or does it need to be a regular coke?

  2. Thanks for clarifying about the diet coke being okay to use in this recipe, Shannon! I am happy to report that we made this yummy marinade, and it made a bunch. We were able to marinate the chicken breasts and a butterflied pork loin, and both kinds of meat were really tasty! It’s a recipe we will keep and use again and again. Yum!

  3. do you think it would be good if you used pepsi vs. coke?
or if it would even matter? I don’t keep any coke products in my house…

  4. Can I bake this? It’s marinating now! I don’t have a grill though… and it took me until now to come to this realization.
