My FAVORITE Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

I know it is officially still summer... but I am quickly slipping into Fall-Mode.

I am totally resisting the urge to get out of my fall decor… but I think I may cave at any moment.

And in case you have caved yourself… or are on the verge… I wanted to re-post this lovely cookie recipe.

This will absolutely fill your home with a such wonderful fall aroma!

Some of you may already be in on this pumpkin cookie secret… but if you aren’t… welcome!

Other than my chocolate chip cookies, there is no other cookie (or dessert) recipe I have made more.

I love this cookie.

And…. I have something very secretive to tell you…

There is NO butter and NO oil.

(insert cheers here!)

And you don’t even miss them.  Seriously I like this cookie better than those with the butter and oil options.

All you need is in the picture above:

1 large can pumpkin (30 oz)

2 Spicke Cake mixes

1 cup Raisins (optional)

2 cups oats (optional)

2 bags of GOOD Chocolate Chips (optional if you are crazy)

* mix pumpkin and cake mixes

*  Add raisins, oats and chocolate chips

* bake at 350 for 15 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean

When this becomes….

This… you will be in pumpkin cookie la la land….

A couple of notes…

* If you can find the smaller cans of pumpkin you can cut everything else in half

*  I freeze extra cookies.  They thaw very nicely and are healthier than many granola bars.

*  These also make great muffins (large or small).  As part of a meal, just leave out the chocolate chips.

  1. My sister shared this secret with me last year, but without the oats. I will have to try them with the oats. She added cinnamon chips(by the chocolate chips in the baking isle) with the chocolate chips. I had never used cinnamon chips before and ohhh were they yummy! I also used them in bread for a cinnaburst bread that was yummy. I just found your bog a few weeks ago while looking for YW handout info and love it! Thanks for all the fun ideas.

  2. I Love this recipe…I have made muffins with something similar…so I need to know is it a large can or small can of pumpkin you use with this recipe?

    1. Hi Janae! It is 1 large can of pumpkin to every 2 boxes of cake mix. So if you can find the small cans you can make it with just one cake mix – I find that the small cans can be hard to find. Hope this helps! 🙂

  3. Have you ever tried devils food cake mix and pumpkin? I make it into muffins and they are unbelievably good!!! My kids love them and they are getting a TON of fiber!!

  4. just went to the store to get the supplies. making them right now! i also just have to say how much i LOVE LOVE LOVE your blog. i have been learning soooo much! THANKS a TON!!!

  5. That sounds like a recipe my family would LOVE!!! Thanks for sharing. I don’t know how I have never see your blog before-I love the other 3 ladies you are doing The Celebration of Family with. Nice to meet you and gain another awesome blog friend! 🙂

  6. I have made these cookies for a few years, but without the oatmeal and raisins, until I saw your recipe. I really like it with the oatmeal, but next time I make it I will just add more chocolate chips and ditch the healthy raisins! I also saw Flowergirl’s comment about adding cinnamon chips. I actually found them at my grocery store! I used them, but really couldn’t tell they were in there. It was kind of sad.

I also wanted you to know that I get more ‘repins’ of this recipe on Pinterest than anything else I have pinned. It is super popular!

  7. I want to try this recipe tomorrow, but I’m still not sure what a large can means? The size of a can of beans? 15oz? Can’t wait!

    1. Hi Barbara! It is a 29 oz can of Pumpkin. If you have the 15 oz size, then you can just use 1 box of cake mix, but I have found that size is hard to find.
Enjoy the recipe! Its perfect for fall. 🙂

  8. They were delicious! Everyone loved them. Instead of raisins, I used craisins and instead of chocolate chips, I used 1 bag of white chocolate chips. Left them in the oven for exactly 15 minutes, and they were perfect! Great recipe!

  9. This recipe sounds fantastic. I’m in the middle of making it and it seems to be coming along well; the whole family’s excited about it! But halfway through I realized it calls for a large can of pumpkin, not the standard size. So I’ve had to improvise, because I only grabbed one 15 oz can. It seems from some of the comments that some may be unsure of the size of the can the recipe calls for; not to be critical, but it may be helpful to future visitors if the article was updated with that information. 🙂

Regardless, thank you for posting this, it’s a great idea!

  10. This is great! Thanks for sharing. I used dark chocolate chips, since they are my boyfriend’s favorite, and they made these cookies extra rich. I also added a splash of rum after mixing the pumpkin and cake mix, which gave the cookies a nice kick!

  11. Approx how many cookies does this make with the large can of pumpkin and 2 spice cake boxes? Just curious! I am so surprised that this doesn’t even need an egg! Excited to make these.
