Journals That are Coming Soon- The Red Headed Hostess

Here are a couple of things I am working on!

1-  The topics I am working on for the new Search By Topic feature are:

  • Ordinances
  • Covenants
  • Marriage
  • Family
  • Faith
  • Charity
  • Atonement

Phew!  That is SO much work – but will be totally worth it!  So if you have any favorite quotes, stories, articles, etc.  about any of those topics – please share them with me!!

2-  The Book of Mormon Seminary Journal

I am getting lots of emails from teachers wondering if I am going to do another seminary journal – and YES!  It is actually finished and I am just waiting for the proof – so if I am happy with everything I expect it to be available by the end of this week.  YAY!  And this one is even better than last year’s – plus I will give you SEVERAL lesson ideas to do at the beginning of the year that you can usewith this journal.  So it will be a combination of beginning of the year content with getting the kids to know their journals and immediately fall in love with them.

***Oh and by the way – both the Seminary Journal (above) and the next journal (below) was designed by Ashley Arnold.  She is SO great!  She has an Etsy shop and  I shot her an email and asked her if she wanted to throw out a discount in today’s post for my readers, and she said YES!

So, starting today through July 1, anyone who go to her Etsy shop from this site and enters the code: REDHEADEDHOSTESS, will receive 20% off their entire order. And here is the link to her shop:  West and Main Design

OK… here is the next thing…

3-  Young Women Values Doodle Journal

I am SO excited for this.  I can’t even tell you!

This is a journal that covers all of the scriptures in the YW Personal Progress program.

I was talking to my nieces and I was asking them about their Personal Progress, and specifically about the scriptures they are supposed to look up.  “How did you look up those scriptures?”  I asked.  “I looked the up and read them“, they said. “Did you get a lot out of that?” I asked.  “Not really,” they said.

I am guessing that is the case with a lot of the girls.  They are looking them up, but not really getting tons out of them.

So my head started spinning – how can we help them have FUN and get TONS out of the a amazing scriptures there?

I still a few weeks away from getting this done.  I am keeping it really simple – but ironically, that takes TONS of thought, testing, and work.  Each scripture will have a little doodle activity that will send the girls searching and digging.

Above you can see what one of my nieces “doodled” for Ether 6 (under the value Faith).  And below you can what another niece doodled.

So different!  That is what I love!  So the girls can study and then look through each other’s journal and learn even more!

Each reference will have a different doodling activity – and hopefully they will learn a lot of valuable scripture journaling tricks along the way! 🙂

Plus, I am designing these to be great for Young Women in Excellence.  So you could assign each girl a value and they could share some of their favorite things from their journals.

It provides a place for them to study and creatively record things from those scriptures.

Off to work!!!>/h3>

  1. All these things look great! I can’t wait for the YW values doodle journals. I was called to YW’s a few months back and I think this would be fantastic for them (and the leaders too!!)
Thanks so much for all the work you put into these things for us to purchase.

  2. I have been released as the ward YW President – but I love, LOVE your study helps so much – I have purchased MUCH from you and your blog for myself and for my 18 Young Women. I know that the new YW President also frequents your blog and site and I am so glad! What a great idea to have a doodle book for their scripture look-ups! You are amazing! What talent you have! Seriously, you are so amazing!

  3. I was just called as a personal progress adviser and those doodle journals look amazing! I have been searching for ideas for personal progress and most of what you find is hand-outs galore to motivate them to do, but this is something to help them accomplish it. After teaching seminary for a couple of years, I like the idea of sharing something that is more meaningful to them What about including a page with hints/ideas on how to “take the studying of the scripture to the next step”? This might appeal to those who are taking seminary. For example the list might include , other scriptures that relate back to the doodled scripture or to add general conference quotes related to the topic, etc.

  4. I am in a ward Relief Society Presidency. Your website is great there are so many great ideas here that will work for adult women as well as young women. Please could you tell us when your new YW Values Doodle Journals will be available?

  5. I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS YW DOODLE JOURNAL!!!! Yes, I am that excited!!! I love your products and ideas.

I have your book for the new curriculum!!! The only improvement I made to it was to cut the binding off and put it in a 3 ring binder so that I could add talks and other things that relate.

Your style journaling has taken my scripture study to a whole new level!!! I pay more attention to what I am reading but even better is when I flip through what I have written and doodled I learn again!!!

THANK YOU doesn’t seem like enough for what you have done for me just by sharing your talents!!!

  6. I keep anxiously checking back to see when this will be available. I know you’ve got things to do, but please, hurry it up?!! 😉 I’ve got two daughters that this would be perfect for.

  7. I just got put in as YW President, and I follow your site religiously! I am soooo excited to see these when they are done! I am thinking they would make a great Christmas present for the girls, and serve a purpose at the same time…now to convince the Bishop we have to have these!

  8. We ordered some of these for our YW as Christmas gifts (and to use up the rest of our budget money–hehe). THey LOVE them! They are really excited about their PP and it’s a super tool to help them finish it. THank you!
