The History of the Bible Flipbook: The Red Headed Hostess

Why do we need the Book of Mormon? This awesome printable book just lays it out so clearly. Kids and adults will learn tons!

Have you seen our print-your-own FLIP BOOKS?  These are illustrated, printable, children-style books that teach important history, doctrines and principles.  These are designed to teach children, youth, and adults!

Here is a little info graphic to explain how this Flip Book works:

This is a print your own book about the history of the Bible and the importance of the Book of Mormon. So clearly explained and easy to understand! It teaches about the Apostasy, Reformation, important men in the Bible's history, Joseph Smith… and tons more!

We are calling them Flip Books because you just attach the books with a book ring and the book just flips over.  And since you can buy the actual digital file  you can print the book over and over in case your little ones tear a page – or maybe you want to print a book off for each kid!  🙂

The History of the Bible and Why the World Needed the Book of Mormon - printable book!

This particular book is 40 pages long.  But we have the book sized to four pages per 8 1/2 x 11 sheet.  So this 40 page book fits onto 10 sheets (we recommend that you use card stock when you print).

Throughout this book is this little red headed girl and she gives commentary throughout the book.

She gives all sorts of insightful information.  The kind of stuff that I would explain if I were going to teach about this topic.  She gives TONS of good tidbits!

By the way – I ALWAYS taught about the History of the Bible when I taught seminary.  I think it is a critical thing to understand and gives a huge perspective on the Apostasy, Reformation, Restoration, what the King James Version of the Bible is – and most importantly – how Joseph Smith came into the world at the exact right time.

All of that is taught in this book. I have compiled years and years of study into one little Flip Book.

Oh – and one would probably assume that the Red Headed Hostess is me – but I am actually making it my little red headed daughter.  She is the one teaching and explaining.  She is only three years old now, but I want this to be her and something that becomes special to her.

The History of the Bible and Why the World Needed the Book of Mormon - printable book!

This book walks you through names of important men that you often hear about in General Conference.  Names like John Wycliffe and William Tyndale – and we explain what they did that was so important for us.

The History of the Bible and Why the World Needed the Book of Mormon - printable book!

This book teaches you about:

The original copies of scripture, how they were copied by scribes, the Apostasy, the translation of the Bible into the Latin Vulgate for Catholic Clergy, John Wycliffe, the printing press, William Tyndale, the Reformation, King James and his translation of the Bible, understanding the Title Page of the Bible, the PERFECT timing for Joseph Smith coming into the world, and the role of the Book of Mormon and how it goes hand-in-hand with the Bible.

Also, at the end of the book are pages like this that says “Quote” on top.  This is so that you can find quotes (from General Conference) about the topics you have learned and add them to the back of the book. And trust me, you will find some amazing quotes!

So here is my little tip on punching holes for this book:  Use the first page as a template for every other page.  So line up each page with the first page and punch the hole in the same spot.  That makes for a really nice book.

  1. This is great! I would love to see a book on the different characters in the scriptures—I guess that would probably be several books! I’d also love to be able to download it in a format in which I could send it to be printed at a photo place, since I don’t have a color printer.

What a great idea! My kids will love these.

  2. This is awesome! I would love a flip book about Old Testament prophets… and maybe Old Testament kings, etc. I get so confused with Old Testament anything…. Come to think of it, what about Doctrine and Covenant characters too! 🙂

  3. Shannon!

I just have to come and say how AMAZING this book is! I just read through it and it is beautifully done! It put things SO clearly. I learned tons! Thank you! I am so happy you are doing these and can’t wait for the next one!

  4. How about the gathering of Israel, prophecies of Isaiah and signs of the times, things that are hard to understand but important nonetheless?

  5. I cannot even tell you how excited I am about this and any future books you are going to sell! I am going to print this off tomorrow! These books will be great to take to church for my kids to look at during sacrament. I appreciate all your work you have put in to and are planning on doing on these books. I think it is essential to teach our kids these important doctrines, and this is a perfect way for them to learn. Anyways, what I would love is books on scripture heros.

  6. A flip book about the Atonement would be great, that is hard to explain to little ones. I also pinned and shared on FB.

  7. I would love to see a flip book on Easter, baptism, and the priesthood (geared toward boys preparing for it ~ 10-11 year olds). Thank you!

  8. Pinned! What a great resource! I’m a homeschooling mum and I’m using these resources for kids to aid our scripture study. They’ve been very helpful, thank you! I’d love to see books about baptism, the priesthood, faith and other gospel principles. Also perhaps one on the articles of faith, explaining them as they go so the children understand what they are memorising, not just learning it. I really enjoy your work, thanks!

  9. It would be great to see something akin to “The Book of Mormon on Trial”. It goes through a mock court case and explains the BoM as if before a judge including modern day “proofs” of events, places, names, etc found in the Book of Mormon.

  10. Common Symbols in the scripture. Maybe even getting into the significance of each sacrificial animal in the OT, Symbols from the book of Revelation in the NT, etc.

  11. I would love a flip book on the order of temples build with a little story about each one.
a flip book with each apostle & a story about each one.
a flip book about Christ’s last days & the events that took place.

  12. I would like to see a book on Isaiah. Why he wrote what he did and the way he did. Some of his literary tools he used. Some of his prophecies. What Israel was like at the time.

  13. I think it would be fun to have stories about the Primary songs.
And I loved #Michelle’s ideas above.
    Articles of Faith.
And a whole book on Joy.

  14. Posted on Facebook and Pinned‼️ I would love to see a flip chart on priesthood heroes and women in the scriptures heroes. It would help so much for families and teaching lessons in church if you could quickly turn to great examples. Thanks for all your heard work. I use your ideas weekly! THANK YOU‼️

  15. I think the plan of salvation would be a fun flip book. The Book of Mormon stories; Nephi, Abinadi, Ammon, Christ visits the Nephites, etc. (there are too many to name 🙂 ) The YW lessons would be good as flip books too.

  16. Pinned it, shared it on Facebook, and leaving a comment here:) I think that Scripture Heroes would be a neat topic. I also think that heroes from history would be awesome. (Such as George Washington, Ben Franklin, etc.)

  17. I am thrilled about this flip book. I have been looking forward to you completing The House of Israel book and was also thrilled to hear that it is in the works.
I would like a flip book about the parables.
A flip book about some of the great warriors (and what made them so great) from the Book of Mormon would be nice.

  18. I LOVE Your website! I follow you on Pinterest and Facebook! I also shared and pinned your flip book (I am downloading it now) 🙂 I have two boys. They always wear their future missionary tags! I would like to see one for toddlers about becoming a missionary! 🙂

  19. What a wonderful idea. I have already printed it off and I am so excited to share it with my family. However, I would love to have the option of being able to purchase this book in a larger format with individual pages. I am also THRILLED that The House of Israel book is almost complete. Your concise explanations are the best I have come across.

Future books – As I read the speech bubble on page 34 of your flip book, I thought, “That would be a great follow-up book.” A flip book on how the Book of Mormon/Bible helps us understand the Full and Complete Doctrine of Christ.

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful insights and teaching abilities. I can’t imagine the amount of time and effort that it takes to produce such amazing material. I have learned so much from you. You have changed the way I study my scriptures. Your beautiful teaching tools have added depth to my studying and teaching. Thank you!

  20. How about Holy Week (the last week of Christ’s life), with the events that led up to and included the atonement and resurrection? It would be such a great teaching tool when helping our kids understand the sacred nature of the Easter holiday.

  21. The book of revelations. It would be great to have more of a timeline for signs of last days or to somehow understand the book itself and symbolism in it or some type of a chronological order.

  22. I pinned this immediately! And shared it on Facebook. I wish I had found you years ago! I also vote for a flip book on Revelations, that would make a difficult book much easier to follow.

  23. Other than a specific story on a flip book, I would love to see this very one in Portuguese. I believe it is the third most spoken language in Church, I know a lot o f people would take great advantage of this simply gorgeous work here in Brazil. I can help you translate if you would like, just let me know. Thanks for inspiring our lives and sharing your talent with us. It makes great difference!

  24. How about a flipbook on polygamy. The revelation, WHY? and how it came to be as well as who performed the first polygamy marriages.

  25. I would LOVE to see a book about the women in the scriptures. I don’t know if there are enough mentioned for each scripture to have a book or if you would have to do one for the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine and Covenants (or early Church history) all together.

  26. A flipbook on all the people in the BOM and how they are related. Sometimes its hard for my kids (and even myself) to remember how Nephi (in Helaman) fits with everyone.

  27. Oh my goodness, I love this! shouldn’t be surprising since I love everything you do and wish I’d had you as a seminary teacher. I would love to see flip books on all the different prophets, Christ’s apostles, a timeline flipbook, and especially a map flip book. Ooooh, flip books for different conference sessions would be AWESOME too! I feel like I have so much to learn that honestly I love and devour everything on your blog. Thank you

  28. I am so excited about this. I am homeschooling my children and this would be perfect for us. Right now we are memorizing AofF, so that would be great to have. We are also studying the Old Testament this year so that we can go along with Sunday School/Primary. So that would be another great subject.

thank you so much! Mela 🙂

  29. Wow wow wow! This is fabulous! I would love something about qomen in the scriptures, how BOM prophets are connected, modern day prophets flip book, hmmm i am just amazed. This is going to help me so much.

  30. I’m excited to get it for my kids! They will love it! Would love to see one for Articles of Faith also!

  33. I would love to see a profile of Christ’s twelve disciples. Who they were, what their profession was, etc. I would also love to see something that talks about prophecies given in ancient days and how they were/are directly fulfilled in the latter-days. It would be so awesome to visually see those prophecies given and fulfilled in one of your amazing print outs!

  34. This looks amazing! I’d also be interested in flip books that help boys get prepared for the priesthood & another about strong women in the church and/or scriptures.

  35. Shared on Pinterest and FB (and twitter)
I was just lamenting to my husband that I was having a hard time finding anything for our kids about the bible that I liked. Then I see this and it’s perfect!!! Everything I was looking for.

  37. I absolutely love your site, ideas, and resources. Thank you!

  38. I would love to see one about the new testament background! I love your blog and all your ideas! Thank you for sharing. I received my new calling and your teaching packages have been a blessing! The YW/YM love the classes.

  41. I would love to see a book on Christ’s visit to the America’s. Thanks for all you do, I love all your stuff!

  42. A flip book on the house of Israel. That can get complicated, I know. But I always get confused on who conquered the 10 tribes. Who conquered the Jews. What other house was mixed in with the Jews. The difference between the original 12 tribes, land 12 tribes, blessings 12 tribes. And why it’s important to know what tribe we are today.

  43. What a wonderful book! Thank you for sharing your talent. I would love to see a flip book on our choices and how they are directly related to Eternal Life which we are striving for.

  44. All the suggestions for new flip books are great.
Love the idea of women in scriptures, Book of Mormon heroes, the offices and duties of the Priesthood, Articles of Faith, House of Israel, covenants….

  45. I haven’t read all the above comments, so this might be a repeat – but a flip book about Esther would be great!

  46. The atonement
    Articles of faith
Duty to God and preparation to receive priesthood
    Scripture Pals/heroes

  47. I am a new fan and love the quality of your products. Would love to see something about the Doctrine and Covenants for the seminary students next year.

  48. I have searched for YEARS to find a world events/apostasy/restoration timeline. This is PERFECT and well written and beautiful! I can’t wait to share this with my Young Women class and a special friend who was/is struggling with her faith. THANK YOU for taking the time to do this. I haven’t found any other visual timeline that represents these facts and events and it is SOO important to understand the world events and how they relate and were necessary for all of the religious events. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this.
