7 Quotes, Thoughts, or Scriptures that Ground Me….

1-  The Proclamation is clear and unmistakable.  There is no way to misunderstand the position of the Brethren on the family.  President Uchtdorf said:

“Teach the truth with courage and clarity.  The world offers many morally-confusing philosophies.  Remain committed to the eternal, unchanging doctrines of the gospel and teach them so clearly that they cannot be misunderstood.”  (CES Fireside, January 28, 2011)

2-  Heavenly Father taught it clearly from the very beginning, and his Prophets and Apostles continue to do so.

“…Marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God…”  The word “ordain” is such an important word – It means to establish, decree, or make law.  And when God ordains something it is vital that we understand why.  How does it fit into the Plan?  What must we understand about this?  And what happens when we decide that we know more than God and change the rules?(check out the second to last paragraph of the Proclamation to see what it says there!)The Family Under Siege:  The Role of Man and Woman by Bruce Satterfield. And truthfully, once I understood what is taught in this talk – it gave all of the quotes above in an entirely new perspective!

And if you are looking for an easy way to see how well your family knows the Proclamation
here is a download you can print off and see if they can fill in the blanks!  My advice is that it is more important to listen to what they think goes in those blanks more than if they actually get the exact word correct.
