Our Little Girl’s Nursery… Part 3 | The Red Headed Hostess

As mentioned in previous posts… I am in nursery-mode.  And all I can say is that this baby better be a girl.

This is the latest and cheapest pillow I have made for this project.  Made out of only muslin… I don’t know if it could be any more inexpensive to create.

To create the ruffles, all you need to do is cut out strips of muslin twice the length of the front of the pillow.

Then, on your sewing machine stitch a single line down the center of the strip.  You can tell your sewing machine to make a longer stitch than you usually might – it will make the next step easier.

Now, just take one of the threads at the end of your strip and pull, creating the ruffle as you go.

Pin your ruffles onto the front of your pillow piece and stitch them into place.

Then turn it over and pin it to the back piece of the pillow and stitch the edges, leaving a space large enough to fit the stuffing or pillow insert through.  Then close the opening with a slip stitch.

And voila!  Perfect for a nursery!
