Lullaby….
My Hannah is a great sleeper at night…
but her daytime naps are another story.
If I cuddle her she will sleep for hours
but if I put her down? Five minutes… fifteen if I am lucky.
As much as I LOVE cuddling her…
I was grateful to find this little trick:
My friend Mike Hicks sent me his Lullaby CD…
and she was TOTALLY drawn in.
And after a few minutes
Voila!
Also lately she has been wanting to stay up with mom and dad so I have been using it at night when she is acting fussy and it works then too!
YAY!
Thanks Mike!
And here is a photo to help brighten your day…
Quiet music is such a gift! Not only did I use it for my 5 kids, but I ran a day care in my home for over 30 years, and used it too. I also did a LOT of singing lullabies, and Children songbook songs myself!
Love it!
Back in 1994, my eldest son was in the NICU at Provo Regional Medical Center. (I think that is what it is called.) I happily agreed to volunteer him for a BYU Student study with regards to playing classical music to the babies in their incubators. They wanted to see if male voices or female voices were preferred by the babies. And as I assumed, the babies who were allowed to participate in the study had great results. My son was born ten weeks early but was able to leave NICU for home within 28 days of his arrival. I am not saying all of the babies were that lucky, but I am saying that I believe it helped my son to get through those nights without mom AND I can’t forget to mention the awesome nursing staff who may have thought I was too young to be having a baby, etc. (I looked about 16 to them instead of 22) BUT treated the children as their own.
When my little Hannah was an infant we played a certain Frank Sinatra CD none stop for about two years I think! Now whenever I hear a song from that CD it immediately takes me back to those precious years. Your Hannah is a doll. Thanks for the super cute pic to brighten my day!
Your sweet photo of Hannah made me laugh out loud. She is full of joy!
My son wasn’t a very deep sleeper day OR night, and recorded lullabies were so helpful for us! (Our “theme song” while I was carrying him was Fauré’s Gymnopédies – so soothing!) As he grew, he listened to stories and then dooks on tape, and even now he’s listening to music at night. Our favorite when he was a little guy was “Daddies Sing Good Night” – still available at Amazon. I liked that it was men’s voices singing, since he was always with me and listening to my voice… just nice to hear the daddies for a change 🙂
Hannah is beautiful. You both have been blessed with this little beauty. No love like the love you have for your child. Thank you for sharing these cute pictures.
