My Brother’s Wedding- The Red Headed Hostess

My little, and only, brother was married a couple of weekends ago, and so that week was filled with lots of prepping for his big day.   That is one couple that were born to meet each other – talk about two peas in a pod!   I was so thrilled about this marriage, and  I really wanted to help make it as special as possible, so I was relieved that I was feeling good enough after my surgery to help pull off the little details that needed to get done!

Oh… and that is my little Hannah they are holding.  I wish every child in the world had as many people loving them as she has.  She is a lucky little girl.

The night before the wedding we had a BBQ in place of a traditional wedding dinner, so I, my Mom, Aunt and some of the bride’s family started cooking and baking.

These oatmeal cookies were a big hit and I’ve given you the recipe before.

Those mint candy cookies were also a big hit and I failed to take a good picture of the cookie, but all you need to do is make this easy one bowl chocolate cookie recipe (minus the chocolate chips), and then AS SOON as you take them out of the oven, put half of an Andes Mint in the center of the cookie.  Wait a couple of minutes until it softens and then take a toothpick and swirl it around so it breaks up the square shape of the mint more into a circle.  If you look closely you can see the candy in the center.

I drew up those labels for a little extra detail a wedding dinner needs.

Here are the files if you want them:  (I am sending them to you in WORD in case you want to change the sizes or type words into them [use your “text box” feature for that)

I just printed them onto full sheet label sticker pages and cut them out by hand.

I think it could make a really fun YW activity to make gift labels.  I would use the black and white frames and have them color them.

I LOVED these mini apple pies.  They are surprisingly easy and such a fun addition to an all-American BBQ.

We just took Pillsbury ready-made pie crust and cut it into circles and put them into muffin tins.

And then we cheated again and took ready-made apple pie filling and put in 1 tsp of filling

And then we sprinkled a streusel topping and baked them at 350 for 12 minutes.

They just pop out really easy…

And are DELICIOUS.  It is the perfect ratio of salty crust to sweet filling.

Tomorrow I will show you the centerpieces we made for the reception.

So until then… Enjoy this little bit of heaven:

  4. I can’t get the frame files to open either. I have a Mac so that might be the problem. Love your ideas. I would love the file emailed too if possible,

  5. Love all these ideas and recipes! I also have a Mac but mine worked. However when I clicked on the “frames color” link it downloaded the file. To find it I went into the “finder” icon and clicked on downloads and in the search engine typed the word “frames” and there is was. Clicked on it and it opened in word. Hope this helps!

  6. If Hannah doesn”t look like her daddy in the picture with her uncle. You have a beautiful family, beautiful life, beautiful spirit. Thank you for sharing your family, recipes, the sweet thing in your life along with the scare and pain that you just went through. We are so thankful all is well.
