Next week's chapters contain some of the most beautiful miracles in the scriptures.

It's a really wicked time in the history of the Israelites and the Lord calls Elijah to bring the people back into His loving covenant.

We get to learn about the widow of Zarephath and see how an invitation to offer sacrifice is the Lord’s way of opening up the windows of heaven to bless us. We’ll see how the Lord speaks in a still, small voice and be left with no doubt of His unrivaled power.

- One of my life long friends narrates the summer story - about the widow - and it is truly beautiful!

- There are two new pieces of original art for you to use to display, to teach with or just to soak up and study.

- Lots of activity ideas to make these stories come alive for your children, including "Bonfires and Baal" - a really cool bonfire activity to teach about the Holy Ghost. If you want to roast cinnamon rolls there are instructions in the kit! You'll just need to buy a few containers of refrigerated rolls and some roasting sticks. Yum!

- The craft next week is learning to make bread like the widow of Zarephath. You will just need whole wheat flour, olive oil and water. I can't wait to fill my home with the smell of baked bread and talk about this miracle more with my children. Or maybe we'll listen to the summer story as we bake.

I really love this week's Summer Story. It's all about David and the choices he makes, in a way that children will be able to understand.

In the story, you'll hear this little poem repeated a few times:

One choice brought light,
One choice brought pain.
The choice to repent
Shines the light again.

A fun and really impactful way to teach that repentance is a joyful thing, is to listen to the story outside under the stars or in a dark room at bedtime and give everybody a flashlight. Every time they hear the word 'light', have everybody switch their light on at the same time.

I tried it in my own home on Monday night as a way to introduce the story for this week and it was definitely a hit! Just creating a dark atmosphere instantly switched things up enough to get everyone's attention.

I know many of you love to use these 'busy book' p

I know many of you love to use these 'busy book' pages for young children. I find if you leave it out during the week they love to play with it over and over again. Repetition and doing things with their hands is so good for their learning.

If you want to use this again without having to print it, just laminate the pages and use 10mm velcro dots to stick on the temples. Perfect to keep in your church bag or to pull out on Sunday afternoons.
