Back-to-school is here—and CFM is giving us the Back-to-school is here—and CFM is giving us the perfect section for us.

As the school year starts, so many things come with it. One thing I try to do is think of ways to strengthen my children spiritually - and CFM is giving us the perfect section.
Doctrine and Covenants 88 - The Olive Leaf.

Quick background:
The Lord had just given them D&C 87 which was warning them of difficult times to come.
The Lord then gave them D&C 88 - a message of peace to them.

When Joseph sent this revelation to the saints in Jackson County, he said: “I send you the olive leaf which we have plucked from the tree of Paradise, the Lord’s message of peace to us.”

Why an Olive Leaf?

The olive tree can live for thousandsof years, providing nutritional, medicinal, and economic benefits.

However, it is a difficult tree to cultivate, much like peace.

A fruit-bearing olive tree requires time, careful pruning, and consistent nurturing.

Similarly, peace must be cultivated with patience and care.

Throughout history, the olive tree has symbolized peace across many nations and eras.

We know our children face so many different situations and this section is filled with counsel that can guide our homes and families in busy, challenging seasons like this one.

This week, choose a verse from D&C 88 to choose some themes for this school year.

💡 Some great options:
D&C 88:63 – Draw near to God each day.
D&C 88:67–68 – Fill your life with light.
D&C 88:119 – Organize and prepare every needful thing.
D&C 88:122 – Learn to listen and learn together.

Write your verse somewhere everyone will see it, and talk each week about how you’re living it. Let’s send our kids into the world from homes that feel like temples—organized, Spirit-filled, and full of love. 💛

He never said, “Draw near unto Me—if you’re He never said, “Draw near unto Me—if you’re worthy.”
He just said, “Draw near.”

”There are no disclaimers or exceptions in His invitation [in D&C 88:63]. We are the ones who determine whether or not we will come unto Him.

The drawing near, seeking, asking, and knocking are up to us. And the more we know about the Lord—meaning the more we experience His mercy, devotion, and willingness to guide us even when we may not feel worthy of His direction—the more confident we become that He will respond to our petitions….

There are many ways to draw near, seek, ask, and knock.

If, for example, your prayers offered to Heavenly Father in the name of Christ have become a little casual, would you recommit yourself to meaningful prayer, offered in unrushed solitude and with a repentant heart?

If you have not yet come to appreciate the peace and the power of temple worship, would you partake of the ordinances of the house of the Lord as often as your circumstances allow?

If you have not yet found that immersion in the scriptures increases your sensitivity to the Spirit, would you consider incorporating the word of God into your life more consistently? Tonight would be a wonderful time to begin.

These efforts and many others increase our connection with Jesus Christ. As our testimony of Him expands and matures, we begin to care more about life forever than life today, and we have no desire but to do what He needs us to do and to live as He has asked us to live.”

The best gospel talks with our teens? They almost The best gospel talks with our teens? They almost never happen when you plan them. They happen in the car, on a hike or while making dinner. 💬🚗

That’s why these 6 simple questions are designed to meet your teen where they are. 💛

1. When life feels chaotic, what place brings you peace? Why is it “holy”?

2. What are some places that help you feel close to Jesus Christ?

3. Who are some friends that help you stand in holy places?

4. What music, activities and friends help you create a holy space?

5. How do you stay spiritually strong when your surroundings aren’t?

6. Why do you think the Lord says to “stand” in holy places instead of just “go” to them? What might that teach you?
